All Aboard

Updated: Jun 30, 2019

Hello everyone! For as long as I can remember, travel inspired me in ways that I never understood. My passion for traveling began when I was a kid growing up in Ohio spending endless hours daydreaming of sailing on an ocean or flying on a plane (both ironic imaginations for reasons I will share later). As I became an adult, I first began traveling extensively during a nearly five-year enlistment in the U.S. Navy. It started in 1990 when I literally flew out of a January snowstorm in Pittsburgh and arrived in sunny San Diego - albeit for boot camp. Although the only sights I saw during these first 8 weeks were large barracks and huge paved concrete slabs where we trained and marched, I recognized I was a warm weather enthusiast. During the remainder of my enlistment, I spent some more time in California and then got stationed in Norfolk, Virginia. As a member of a helicopter squadron that searched for mines in the water, I deployed to the North Sea, Baltic, and spent about six months in the Persian Gulf.

After completing my enlistment, I chose sunny south Florida as my new home and relocated to Fort Lauderdale in 1995. Through a series of crazy events, I ended up getting into a career that required me to become a road warrior visiting customers and colleagues in various places around the globe over the past two decades. The "business" travels provided me with an opportunity to accumulate frequent flyer miles, hotel points, and different travel privileges that I use extensively for personal holidays and trips. Over the years, friends asked me to provide advice on accommodations or dining when they traveled to places that I have visited in the past. So, I chose to create this blog and will share my travel adventures with anyone who might be interested in learning more about a location where they may travel in the future. Please feel free to ask any questions you might have regarding the posts, and I will do my best to steer you in the right direction.

As a tribute to my former Navy days, let's blog - ALL ABOARD!

My work took me to India a few times. This picture always reminds me how fortunate I have been to travel and experience many wonders around the world.
